Thank you NPS! Celebrating 100 Years of the National Parks Service

Yesterday was the official centennial of the National Park System.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY PARKS!

The U.S. National Parks have a special place in my heart.  I'm a photo nerd, a science nerd and a nature lover so naturally our national parks are my happy places.  In celebration of our beautiful lands I thought I would share some of my favorite images from some of my visits to our parks.

But first, a little history...

Yellowstone National Park has been a park since March of 1872 but the National Park Service wasn't officially enacted until August, 25, 1916.  Since then, hundreds of lands have been designated as National Parks, National Monuments, National Recreation Areas, National Seashores, along with fourteen other types of national park designations all in the name of preserving our history, natural landscapes and countless species. YAY for positive environmental conservation!

If you love our parks as much as I do, please consider a donation, volunteering or purchasing an annual pass.  You can learn more about our parks and the history here.

So here hit goes with the one that started it all.  Enjoy!
